Swing check

There are specially designed parts in various machinery and piping systems called swing check pigging valves. They help fluids, such as water, flow only in one direction, which is an important role. That means they allow the fluid to pass, but prevent it from returning. They operate using a swinging disc that opens and closes. When pressure on one side of the disc exceeds that on the other, the disc swings open. This enables the fluid to run through quickly. But when the pressure increases on the opposite side, the disc swings closed tightly, blocking the back flow of the fluid

The Benefits and Limitations

Another significant advantage of swing check valves is their uncomplicated design. They are also relatively simple to install, use, and maintain. Because they do not require many complex pigging valves mechanisms or components that could malfunction, they are a cost-effective solution for a wide variety of applications. This saves them money in the long run as they tend to require less upkeep and last longer. Moreover, swing check valves allow fluids to flow with extremely low drag. The low pressure drop means that the fluid can flow easily; reducing energy costs and increasing overall efficiency

But, like all check valves, swing check valves have some limitations that you should be aware of. One of the main factors is that they can only be used with certain types of liquids. For example, if the fluid is full of solid particles or debris, it can end up getting the disc stuck or damaging it. This would also impede the proper function of the valve. The disc can also begin to flutter if the liquid is mixed with gases or vapors. This fluttering can produce noise and reduce valve efficiency, which is not exactly desirable for many systems.
